Deanston Single Malts

Deanston besitzt eine süße Malzigkeit und einen sehr starken Honig-Charakter (den stärksten in Schottland). Das new make hat das Aroma von Bienenwachs und wandelt sich im Alter in Honignoten um. Die Standart-Abfülllung ist der Deanston Single Malt 12 Jahre, daneben gibt es den Virgin Oak und den limitierten Vintage. Alle Single Malts von Burn Stewart, bzw. heute der Distell Group, sind nicht kühlgefiltert oder gefärbt. Der größte Markt für Deanston ist die USA, in Taiwan ist Deanston sogar Marktführer in seiner Sparte. Seit 2011 kommen verschiedene Abfüllungen unter dem Namen Organic Malts auf den Markt. Deanston 12 Jahre

Der 12 Jahre alte Deanston, der 2009 auf den Markt gebracht wurde ist der erste Single Malt, der nur aus den Destillaten der neuen Besitzer kreiert wurde. Nach der Destillation reifte er für min. 12 Jahre in Ex-Bourbon-Fässern und ein Teil der Fässer erhielt ein Finish in First Fill Sherry Oloroso Fässer. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff mit 46,3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Fresh hays of summer, malty cereal, rich creamy toffee and honeyed heather balanced with sweet oak and barley sugar. Palate: Smooth creamy sweetness with sumptuous hints of fruit, malty honeyed spiciness and soft vanilla. Finish: Crisp and satisfying with a tingle of cloves which linger, then gently fade.

Deanston Virgin Oak

Der Deanston Virgin Oak ist ein junger Whisky (um die 6 Jahre), der nach der Destillation zunächst in Ex-Bourbon-Fässern reifte und anschließend ein Finish in neuen nicht benutzten, aber frisch getoasteten Fässern aus der amerikanischen Weißeiche bekam. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff mit 46,3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Heady virgin oak bursting with lemon zest and sweet barley sugar with delicious notes of apple and nutmeg. Palate: A delightful sweetness evoking memories of candied fruits and vanilla toffee balanced with heather honey. Finish: A satisfying light spice with a rewarding burst of honeyed malt and sweet oakiness.

Deanston 15 Jahre Organic

Der Deanston 15 Jahre Organic ist ein von der „Organic Food Federation“ in Großbritannien zertifizierter Whisky. Dies heißt, es wurde für die Herstellung nur regionale Bio-Gerste verwendet. Nach der Destillation und vor der Abfüllung reifte er in neuen unbenutzten Eichenfässern. Er wurde 2016 zum ersten Mal im Travel Retail und in Deutschland angeboten und soll nun als jährliche „Batch Releases“ über je 3.000 Flaschen abgefüllt werden. Batch 2 wurde 2002 destilliert und 2017 ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne künstliche Färbung mit 46.3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Soft, fruity, balanced with sweet American oak notes. Palate: Smooth, creamy sweetness with malty honeyed spice and vanilla. Finish: Incredibly crisp with long lasting oaky sweetness.

Deanston 10 Jahre PX Finish

Der 10-jährige Deanston mit PX Finish kam 2017 auf den Markt. Er wurde im Juni 2006 destilliert und für 8 Jahre in Ex-Bourbon Fässer gefüllt. Für den letzten Geschmackseindruck sorgten in den letzten beiden Reifejahren Ex-Pedro Ximènez Fässer. Wie bei Deanston üblich wurde er ohne nachträgliche Färbung oder Kaltfiltrierung mit 57,5 % Vol. limitiert abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Distinctive honey notes of Deanston, rich fruit cake, raisins, sultanas, fig, toffee, chocolate and vanilla with a gentle touch of spice. Palate: Mouth filling sweetness, rich and syrupy, with notes of Demerara sugar, heather honey, toasted almond, rich dried fruits and hints of toffee and chocolate. Finish: Lingering fruity sweetness with a touch of clove and ginger.

Deanston 12 Jahre Sherry Cask

Der Deanston Sherry ist 2016 exklusiv für den taiwanesischen Markt abgefüllt. Unüblich bei Deanston wurde er mit 40 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Rich honey and toffee, balanced with dried fruits and fig, hints of leather and rich oak, with a touch of aniseed and spice. Palate: Rich dried fruits with layers of honey and salted toffee, rich oak spice, chocolate and coffee. Finish: Long and lingering with hints of honey, dried fruit and subtle spice.

Deanston 18 Jahre Bourbon Finish

Der 18 Jahre alte Deanston wird im Small Batch-Verfahren hergestellt, dies bedeutet dass sich die Whiskys unterscheiden können. Zum ersten Mal wurde der Single Malt 2015 abgefüllt dessen jüngsten Whiskys aus dem Destillationsjahr 1997 stammen. Nach der Destillation reifte er in Ex-Bourbon Hogshead Casks und bekam vor der Abfüllung ein Finish und Harmonisierung in First-Fill Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. Batch 2 wurde 2016 abgefüllt. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff mit 46.3 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Quite aromatic, with balanced American oak notes. Floral, malty, grassy, vanilla and honey with hints of tobacco and nutmeg. Palate: Sweet and spicy, citrus, barley sugar, gingerbread, Manuka honey and white pepper flavours. Finish: Dry and spicy with a warming gingery honeyed tail.

Deanston Cognac-Finish 18 Jahre

Exklusiv Anfang 2015 für die USA wurde ein 18-jähriger Deanston mit Cognac Finish abgefüllt. Der 12 Jahre alte Deanston aus einem Ex-Bourbon-Fass bekam eine Zweitreifung von 6 Jahren in Ex-Cognac-Fässer von Hine Cognac. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff mit  46.3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: The result is a whisky with a smooth, buttery nose that has touches of malt along with pineapple, coconut, vanilla, and oak notes. The taste has a good balance of honey, ginger snap cookies, pineapple, mango, and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish has lingering spices, a touch of citrus fruits, and a subtle oakiness.

Deanston 20 Jahre Oloroso

Diese limitierte Auflage wurde Ende November 2013 in Fassstärke abgefüllt. Er reifte 20 Jahren in Ex-Oloroso Sherry Fässern. Nach Aussage der Brennerei enthält er im Geschmacksprofil Noten von Oloroso Sherry gemischt mit Lebkuchen und Muskat. Am Gaumen erhält man einen Eindruck von ausgewogenen süßen und würzigen Noten. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff in Fassstärke mit 55,3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Creamy with vanilla and ripe fruits, mouth watering butterscotch and subtle sweet sherry notes. Palate: Beautifully balanced with malty, rich and creamy with hints of sweet Oloroso mixed with white chocolate, gingerbread, nutmeg and lovely spicy oak flavours. Finish: Satisfying, spicy and lingering!

Deanston 40 Jahre

2016 wurde mit dem 40 Jahre Deanston die älteste Abfüllung der Brennerei auf den Markt gebracht. Er wurde in den 1970iger Jahren destilliert und reifte zunächst in Ex-Bourbon Refill Casks. Für die letzten 10 Jahre wurde er dann in ein Sherry Oloroso Casks gelegt. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff wurden in Cask Strength von 45.6 % Vol. 500 Flaschen abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Deanston's distinctive notes of rich honey, balanced with tropical fruit, rich oak, sweet malt, vanilla fudge, and a very delicate hint of dried fruit. Palate: Mouth filling sweetness, notes of rich heather honey, pear, apples, ripe fruit,  sweet malt,  and creamy vanilla fudge, with hints of citrus and rich oak. Finish: Long lingering, sweet honey and fruit finale.

Deanston Toasted Oak

Der Deanston Toasted Oak sind limitierte Ausgabe eines Single Malts, der zunächst eine Grundreifung von 9 Jahren in unterschiedlich stark gerösteten Ex-Bourbon-Fässern erhält und dann, nach der Vermählung, für weitere Jahre in Ex-Whiskyfässer weiter gereift wird. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff mit 46,3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen für Batch 2: Nose: An almost hypnotic sweet vanilla with accents of cinnamon, cloves and floral oak. Palate: A taste of far away lands: fragrant spices, rich fruits coupled with a little taste of home in the form of sticky toffee pudding. Finish: Elegant crisp dry oakiness with honeyed gingerbread that’s exquisitely rounded and beautifully long.

Deanston Spanish Oak

Der Deanston Spanish Oak sind limitierte Ausgabe eines Single Malts, der zunächst eine Grundreifung von 11 Jahren in Ex-Bourbon-Fässern erhält und dann für weitere 8 Jahre in einem Ex-Brandy-Fass aus spanischer Eiche lagert. Das Brandy Fass ist eine Lapanto Solera Fass von Gonzalez Byass. Destilliert wurde er 1992 und 2012 wurden 787 Flaschen abgefüllt. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff in Fassstärke mit  57,4 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Gloriously intense and bursting with contrast - chewy beeswax, aromatic wild flowers, rich cocoa and zesty citrus. Palate: Rounded velvety creaminess heralds all that is good; dainty candied fruits, rich crème brulée, zesty orange marmalade and frothy cappuccino. Finish: Long and luxurious with spice and zing.

Deanston 1974

Dieser Jahrgangs-Deanston wurde 1974 destilliert und reifte für 37 Jahre in Oloroso Sherry Fässer. Diese „Small Edition“ ergab 102 Flaschen. Ohne Kaltfiltrierung und ohne Farbstoff in Fassstärke mit 50,3 % Vol. abgefüllt. Preis im Besucherzentrum der Brennerei 850 £.

Offizielle Verkostungsnotizen: Nose: Sweet leather and toffee with subtle notes of sherry. Palate: Luxurious layers of vanilla, creamy caramels and honey are balanced with rich oak, sumptuous fruit and exquisite sweet maltiness. Finish: Sophisticated and complex. It sings of sweet honeyed fruits and the soft whisper of sherry.
