Glen Moray Single Malt Whiskys

Insgesamt sind die Produkte aus der Glen Moray-Destillerie leicht, fruchtig und weich und sind daher auch als "Einsteiger-Whisky" geeignet. Glen Moray ist in UK die Nummer 5 unter den meist verkauften Single Malts. Hier die Beschreibungen der mir bekannten Abfüllungen:

Glen Moray Classic Single Malt

Dieser Whisky wurde ohne Altersangabe veröffentlicht, reifte aber um die 7 Jahre in Ex-Bourbon Fässern, wobei ein hoher Anteil an First Fill Fässern dabei ist. Noch früher erhielt er ein Finish in Chenin Blanc Weißwein-Fässer. Mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Bottlers Notes: Nose: Fragrant and lightly drying with warming malty notes. Butterscotch and shortbread with herbal grassy notes. Taste: Malty toffee sweetness with blackcurrant and a fragrant lemongrass citrus. Finish: Shortbread, fresh herbal notes and ginger marmalade.

Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish

Der Classic Sherry kam 2014 auf den Markt und erhält nach seiner Destillation eine Grundreifung in Ex-Bourbon Fässern und wird vor der Abfüllung für rund 8 Monate in Ex-Sherry Oloroso Fässer umgefüllt. Er wird ohne Altersangabe, mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Bottlers Notes: Nose: Dried fruits, cinnamon and toffee candy. Taste: Sweet vanilla oak, dark chocolate and oriental spice. Finish: Satisfyingly long with a tingle of spice.

Glen Moray Classic Port Cask Finish Single Malt

Der Classic Port kam 2014 auf den Markt und erhält nach seiner Destillation eine Grundreifung in Ex-Bourbon Fässern und wird vor der Abfüllung für rund 8 Monate in Ex-Portwein Fässern von Porto Cruz umgefüllt. Er wird ohne Altersangabe, mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Toasted vanilla and light oak, rich dried fruits. Taste: Refreshing spice with a citrus lemon tang. Caramelised sweetness with cinnamon. Finish: Lingering, with sweet spice and delicate oak.

Glen Moray Classic Chardonnay Finish Single Malt

Der Classic Chardonnay kam schon 2011 auf den Markt und erhält nach seiner Destillation eine Grundreifung in Ex-Bourbon Fässern und wird vor der Abfüllung für rund 8 Monate in Ex-Chardonnay Fässer umgefüllt. Er wird ohne Altersangabe, mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: A fresh clean nose with hints of apples, pear drops, fresh key lime pie and bubblegum fading to a cinnamon sugar aroma. Taste: An elegant whisky with a soft mouthfeel and a taste befitting this meeting of Speyside and Burgandy. Finish: A nutty vanilla comes bursting out with a soft cinnamon spice culminating in a gentle floral finish.

Glen Moray Classic Peated Single Malt

Der Classic Peated wird aus der 10 %igen Produktionslinie aus einem heaviliy peated malt (50 ppm) hergestellt. Nach der Destillation erhält er seine Reifung in Ex-Bourbon Fässern. Nach der Reifung wird er ohne Altersangabe, mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Complex layers of peaty smokiness with vanilla, tangy rhubarb and hints of leather. Taste: Instant peat smoke, lightly spiced with creamy vanilla. Finish: Long, sweet and spicy.

Glen Moray 12 Jahre

Ganz einfach nach der Destillation 12 Jahre in Ex-Bourbon Fässern gereift. Mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Rich, sweet, and floral with notes of vanilla toffee, berry fruits and freshly-cut herbs. Taste: Toasted oak makes way to summer fruits for a mellow sweetness. Finish: Sweet with a subtle oak finish

Glen Moray 15 Jahre

Im Unterschied zum 12 Jahre alten Glen Moray werden neben den Ex-Bourbon Fässer auch Ex-Sherry Oloroso Fässer für die Reifung verwendet. Mit Kaltfiltrierung und Farbstoff in einer Alkoholstärke von 40 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Sherried oak and butter toffee. Taste: Full-bodied and indulgently sweet. Imagine a spiced dark chocolate enjoyed with a finely oaked wine - intense and satisfying. Finish: Long and rich.

Glen Moray 18 Jahre

Der 18 Jahre Glen Moray Single Malt Scotch Whisky reifte mindestens 18 Jahre in Ex-Bourbon Fässern, mit einem hohen Anteil von First Fill Fässern. Mit Kaltfiltrierung und Färbung mit 47,2 % Vol. abgefüllt. 

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Sherried oak, butter toffee and delicate smoke. Taste: Beautifully complex, Heather infused honey and warm spice combine with a hint of oak smoke. Finish: Mellow and long. One to be savoured and never forgotten.

Glen Moray 25 Year Old Port Cask Finish

Dieser Single Malt aus dem Destillierjahr 1988 mit einem Port Cask Finsh wurde 2014 als Batch 2 für die Glen Moray Reserve Range mit 43 % Vol. abgefüllt. Limitiert auf 3.295 Flaschen. In der Elgin Reserve Range werden limitierte Single Malts mit einem Port Cask Finish abgefüllt. Jede Flasche wird nummeriert.

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: Childhood memories of visits to the sweet shop come flooding back. Open the creaky door and take in the aromas - tropical fruits, barley sugars and nougat sitting on a counter of seasoned oak. Almost too much to choose from but finally you choose two old favourites - homemade rich butter fudge and chewy caramel. Warm and comforting. Taste: The cask influence really comes to the fore. Sweet vanilla, salted caramel and subtle oak from the ex Bourbon cask are all there to enjoy. The vintage Tawny Port pipe adds a different dimension, gently soothing the taste buds with mature fruit and warm spice. Complex but reassuringly smooth and fulfilling. Finish: A fond farewell, satisfyingly long and smooth. The sweetness fades gently taking with it layers of spiced oak and toasted brown sugar. A fitting end to a truly Elegant and perfectly balanced whisky.

Glen Moray Mastery

Der Mastery ist die Abfüllung aus der Glen Moray Prestige Serie, der 2017 anlässlich ihres 120-jährigen Geburtstag der Brennerei abgefüllt wurde. Für diesen Whisky wurden 5 verschiedenen Jahrgänge miteinander vermählt:

• Bourbon Cask aus den 1970igern
• Bourbon Cask mit Port Finish aus den 1980igern
• Bourbon Cask mit Madeira Finish aus den 1990-igern und 2000er
• Sherry Cask aus den 1990igern.

Es wurden 1.000 Flaschen mit 52,3 % Vol. abgefüllt.

Tasting Notes vom Hersteller: Nose: An aroma explosion of sugar crusted rhubarb crumble, chocolate raisins and oak smoked toasted almonds. Taste: A cocktail of roasted and toasted coffee beans, melted dark chocolate and sweet raisins infused with fortified wine.  Rich, complex and completely well balanced. Finish: Long and satisfying.  Spice and oak come to the fore.  One to savour and reflect on.
