Oban Single Malt 18 Jahre

Seit ein paar Jahren gibt es auch kleine Batch von 300 Fässer pro Jahr für die Abfüllung eines 18 Jahre alten Obans. Nach der Reifung, hauptsächlich in „refill American oak hogsheads“, im Zentrallager von Diageo wird er dann mit 43 % Vol. incl. Färbung und Kaltfiltrierung in Leven abgefüllt.

Tasting-Beschreibung von Diageo:

Nose: Rich peat smoke and spicy wood come quickly to the fore, backed by the sweet opulence of soft, ripe fruit: bananas, pears, plums. Body: Medium bodied full and rich, with good legs. Palate: An immediate, mouth-filling sweetness balanced by an attractive smoky-malty dryness, with sea salt centre stage. A splash of water softens the spicy edges and rounds the whole. Finish: Long, smooth and sweet, becoming oaky-dry with slivers of dark chocolate and salted caramel
